Patient Information

What is Neurosurgery?
Neurosurgery provides diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the nervous system that may require surgery. An important function of the neurosurgeon is to determine when and when not to employ surgical intervention. Much of his expertise is directed towards this decision making process. Many patients are treated with surgery. Management options are discussed with patients when the consideration of surgery is necessary. One important goal of neurosurgery is to optimize the potential outcome of conditions affecting the nervous system by utilizing modern technology in the context of our understanding the nervous system function. The demand for precision requires application of this technology through the expertise of skilled surgeons.
